This rustic hat utilizes cables and purl stitches to create a hexagonal design that is easy to memorize and fun to knit. Equally suited for men or women, Cobblestone makes a great gift destined to become a wardrobe essential.

This hat is knit in the round from the brim up. You may wish to use a circular needle to begin the pattern. If so, change to the double-pointed needles when there are too few stitches remaining to knit comfortably with the circular needle.

For the small size, the pattern uses almost the entire skein of yarn, with only a few yards left over. If you plan on making a gauge swatch you must unravel it before starting the project.

For larger or smaller sizes, you can add or subtract repeats of the stitch pattern, and the according ribbing. For example, to make an even larger hat you would CO 108 sts and knit 9 repeats of the stitch pattern.
