Keep the winter chill away with a cozy new hat! Great for anyone who has a few small buttons in their craft stash waiting for “just the right thing”. Pair with the matching Cobblestone Cowl for a classic winter set.

Finished hats circumference sizes are 17” (19”, 21”). This roughly translates to Child ages 2-5 (Child age 6-Adult Small, Adult Med / Large). Choose the size that is 1-2” smaller than the actual head measurement of the recipient.

The hat is worked top-down using the magic loop technique (dpns can easily be substituted). The hat begins by being knit inside-out so all
rounds are all done in the knit stitch instead of purl. At the start of the textured brim, the hat is turned to the RS (purl bump side) to start, then
worked flat from there.

This hat is rated “intermediate”, using knit, purl, “make 1” increases, casting on backward loop, sewing on buttons, and the “purled-on cast-on” (which is a lot like the “knit cast-on”). A link is given for a video demonstration of the cast-on.

Special thanks to my testers, Holly, Elin & Estelle! I appreciate all your feedback on this pattern and know it is more user-friendly because of you!
