This shawl is just the thing for a little extra warmth on a summer evening. It is a lovely spider’s web of silk and mohair, inspired by some fabulous yarn, the simple shaping of Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Pi Shawl and the need for an easily memorized pattern on a long road trip. The simple arrangement of yarn-overs makes a lacy fabric, yet is surprisingly warm. Extra increases near the beginning of the shawl create a slightly more than semicircular shape, which allows the shawl to drape around the shoulders and stay on better. If you prefer not to knit the lengthy lace edging, the shawl can be simply finished with a series of crocheted loops.
