For some reason, this hat initially reminded the designer, Parna, of a beehive, which then reminded her of that old school beehive hairdo, which then led her to realize that not only are hats warm and comfy, but they can also be a great hairstyle fix on those days when you just don’t feel like having a hairstyle at all.

This hat is a great lesson in knits and purls in the round – the 1 x 1 ribbing transitions into a Seed Stitch pattern, demonstrating the different textures that can be accomplished with a very minor tweak in your stitch pattern. The texture looks great with either heavily or slightly variegated yarns.
