About the Coles River Kerchief

Meet my pride and joy, the Coles River Kerchief. This lightweight lace shawl is made with any 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn (at least 100g each) and works up so fast you can start plotting your next one right now! The pattern is written recipe style, leaving plenty of room for customization and creativity.

This pattern was born out of a collaboration with indie dyer Jake of Kenyarn. It first debuted exclusively as part of the Coles River Kerchief CAL in September 2018. I’m excited to finally share all the fun of that event with you. I love any excuse to marry fingering weight yarn and crochet, and this pattern is surely a winner. Grab those two skeins of sock yarn you’ve been hoarding and let’s get making!

Pattern Highlights

  • Sample made with Kenyarn Heavy Fingering Singles in the color Toni Blue. Find more yarn from Kenyarn here.
  • Alternating sections of lace and solid stitches result in a shawl with amazing drape and a wide wingspan.
  • Pattern written recipe style in easy-to-follow section. Play around with speckled, tonal, ombre, and self striping yarns to customise your Coles River Kerchief.
