This updated version of the WWI helmet liner makes a perfect warm hat for winter travels and outdoor sports. The lace patterning and cashmere yarn add touches of upscale elegance while the added face flap provides extra warmth for those below zero days when you want to cover your mouth and nose. Starting with the vintage pattern on page 18 as a baseline, each hat I make is unique. The version Colette is wearing on page 15 of Stories In Stitches 3 is customized for her, and slightly different than the one pictured here.
