A very easy top-down cape with color block design.
It’s very simple but very versatile depending on what type of yarn you use or what color combination you choose.
The neckline can be worn open or closed with two buttons.
The side openings add flowing movement and allow freedom for your hands.

SIZE
There are three sizes. ① S-M,( ② M-L, ③ L-XL).
Around the chest (including arms) circumference is 47 (52.5, 57.5)“.
The length from center of back to bottom is 22” long.
The front is 1.5” shorter than back. 20.5” long.
If you wish to make this cape longer, please add more rows before shaping the bottom. It is very easy to do it. (You need to have more yarn, of course! )
More information about sizing please go to Chiaki Knit.

YARN

Yardage for the Heichi (cream + gray) sample.
Upper body (cream) - 430 (495, 530)yards.
Lower body (gray) - 320 (370, 400)yards.
* Any worsted weight yarn with gauge 18sts/4” works great!

  • The sample of “Cream + Gray” is knitted with SHIBUI Heichi. Unfortunately this yarn is discontinued.

  • The sample of “Navy + Orange” is knitted with Be Sweet Bamboo and Cable 8 (100% cotton) doubled throughout. More yarn info is here.

  • If you can get the right gauge (18sts/4”), it works great to combine two different yarns. Shibui Silk cloud + Shibui Staccato or twig. Be Sweet Bamboo + Be Sweet Skinny wool. Tosh DK + lace weight yarn. The combination is endless!!

NEEDLES

  • Please adjust the needle size to obtain the correct gauge.

  • You need one size smaller needles (24” circular)for neck.

  • You start with 24”long circular needles and change to 32”long as needed. if you knit ① size, you might not need to change to 32”long.
