Yarn Needs: The pattern calls for different amounts of yarn depending upon which version you make. For the “girl’s set,” you need 2 ounces of the main color, 2.5 ounces of the first contrast color, and 2 ounces of the second contrast color. For the “boy’s set,” you need 3 ounces of the main color and 2.5 ounces of the contrast color. The yardage cannot be specified because the suggested yarn comes in so many different sizes of skeins.

Additional Gauge Information:
For the Scarf: 15 stitches = 4 inches and 16 rows = 3 inches in scarf pattern
For the Hat: 15 stitches = 4 inches and rows 62-66 = 2 inches in hat pattern

Additional Materials: Yarn needle and polyester fiberfill stuffing for cherries

From the author in COLORFUL HATS & SCARVES:

“The instructions for these projects are very similar, but bold colors for boys and the addition of girly-girl cherries for girls makes a big difference in the look of the finished projects!”
