Quick and easy mobile.

What you will need:

  • yarn. I used 6 different colours of 8ply, but it’s up to you what you want to use (just adjust your hook to match your ply as you want a tight stitch to keep the fill in and not showing).
  • some memory wire (depending on the diameter of your wire you may need to stretch it out). You could also use a heavier gauge regular wire, but I liked the fineness of the memory wire (plus it is easier to poke through the balls during assembly).
  • bead ends. You could also just bend your wire ends around to form loops.
  • superglue for attaching bead ends.
  • some beading thread. I used clear nylon beading thread (like fishing line).
  • crimp beads to attach the wires to the thread.
  • metal ring to hang the mobile from.

For this I made balls of 3 different sizes (but you can easily make them all one size or make more sizes just by varying the balls). I used a variety of bright colours (as I was making it for a baby), this is a good way to use scraps of yarn as each ball (especially the smallest) doesn’t use much at all.

All balls are made in a continuous spiral (no joining between rows) so you may want to mark the starts of the rounds with a stitch marker (a scrap piece of yarn works well).
