What am I missing?
Colourwheel Cowl
Garter stitch, bias knitting and short rows to really play with the stripes in your yarn.
It sounds tricky, but as long as you don’t mind counting on a quarter of all the rows, it’s not at all. In heavier weights it’s a super quick knit.
For more info there’s a KAL thread here; this was originally a mystery KAL.
Works best with handspun like you see in the first photo or self-striping yarn.
You could use a variegated yarn, but the effect will be much more subtle.
You can knit it in any weight from fingering - aran with an appropriate needle size.
There is only one stitch count which means that the depth of the cowl will vary according to the thickness of the yarn.
I think it works best as a single loop in heavier yarns and a double loop in fingering weight.
For the single loop you’ll need less than 200m; for the double loop about 400m.
Stitches used:
knit
kfb
k2tog
wrap and turn (but you don’t pick up the wraps so this is easy)
