A slouchy beret that knits up quickly in a fuzzy, felt-like, worsted-weight wool. Substitute another woolen-spun worsted-weight if you can’t find Imperial Stock Ranch in your neighborhood; note that the hat is knit on needles slightly smaller than the recommended size for a denser, more structural fabric.

New pattern version available for download 30 August 2009. No errata, just a clarification of “omit k1” in the decrease section.

New pattern version available for download 19 February 2011 to correct directions for setting up stitches to knit the ties on top. Sorry I didn’t catch this much sooner!

May 2013: This pattern has a new home at my new site, Whistling Girl Knits.
