When our darling granddaughter arrived I knew I had to design a headband just for her. I love the the amazing design of columbine flowers and decided to include them in the design.

The pattern shows the needed baby soft elastic needed for a newborn to one year. However, this pattern could easily be made for an older girl by measuring her head size and adding the appropriate length of elastic.

This pattern includes instructions for making the flowers and then sewing them on to clip barrettes for helping to keep those wayward curls in place.

The pattern uses U.S. crochet abbreviations and includes picture tutorials on unusual stitches and assembly.

To make this pattern you will need a Steel Crochet hook size 7 (1.65mm).
3/8 inch (.93mm) baby soft elastic (or a baby stretch headband cut to size) of a length to fit your little lady.
30 yards French Rose or wood violet (or choice of main columbine color)
57 yards white (or choice of contrasting columbine and band color)
20 yards mint green or frosty green (or choice of band edging color)
8 yards goldenrod yellow color (or choice of stamen color)
To make the barrettes you will need clip barrettes.

Since you are making this for a special little lady choose the colors that she loves or would work well for her.

Finished size of band without elastic is 11 inches (28cm) by 2 inches (5cm). The open columbine flower measures 3 inches (7.5cm) diameter

The suggested skill level is Intermediate to advanced. The picture tutorials will help do stitches you may never have tried before.

This would make a wonderful baby girl gift. What a wonderful addition to an Easter outfit.
