My boys are forever wanting to change into their “comfy shorts,” which in the past has referred to a pair of gym or sweatshorts. This pattern was inspired by my desire to have them beg me to change into something I had knit for them instead. Jesse tested out the size Small and I’m happy to report that he did not want to take them off.

Size: Small (Medium, Large)
Finished Waist: 20 (22, 24)”
Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows per 4” in stockinette on larger needles
Yarn: 540 (710, 910) yards worsted weight yarn, shown in Berroco Comfort in “Caramel”
Tools: Size 6 (4 mm) 20” circular needle, Size 7 (4.5 mm) 20” circular needles, stitch markers
Notions: 20 (22, 24)“ length of 1” elastic

Pattern Notes

  • Shorts are worked top-down in the round with each leg worked individually in the round and short row shaping at the rear.
