The pattern is a keyhole scarf, using 2 different stitches, one on each rectangle. Each rectangle uses a different hook size. The stitches are very easy, as is the construction.

This pattern was designed for Lila & Claudine’s Yarn Shop as part of the Minnesota Yarn Shop Hop 2016. This year the theme of the Shop Hop was “Inspired by Literature.” Lila & Claudine’s selected “Love in Every Stitch” by Lee Gant as their inspiration book, a story of Ms. Gant’s growth through the support and love provided by the fiber arts and the fiber arts community.

Crochet itself is a wonderful metaphor for the support one receives from the community. As I state on the pattern itself:

When we face the world alone, we’re like a chain stitch, vulnerable. But when we crochet together, we support each other, protecting us from the harshness of the world. The chain is covered, cushioned by our friends and loved ones.
