Concurrent is a large scarf with atypical looking cables in the center and on the edges. The center panel is worked in rib and the edges are garter, making this accessory attractive on both sides and nicely reversible. All stitches are knit, purl, or cabled, and it’s a straightforward basic level project.

Concurrent is stretchy and squishy and super soft, designed with Neighborhood Fiber Company Studio Chunky yarn. I’m honored to be asked to provide a design for the Neighborhood Fiber Company 15 Years of Color Anniversary Club, and Concurrent is the pattern for the November 2021 shipment! For me, it celebrates the relationship I enjoy with NFC. Concurrent means existing side by side, meeting at a common point, and cooperating.

It also relates to water, a theme in my other Spout Knitting Design accessories. Concurrent has a bit of something unexpected, an organic shape, and is fundamentally fun to make and easy to wear!

Colors shown are the exclusive Club color Westside (orange speckle), and longtime favorite of mine, Patterson Park.

Special thanks to my son Ethan and friend Emily for their photography and modeling contributions. The location is a new mural in our city of Grand Rapids, painted by artist Kim Carlino.
