Gradient-style dyed yarns are a labour intensive process for indie dyers, hence the higher price tag associated with them.
This unisex sweater offers a way to pair an eye-catching gradient-style dyed yarn with a neutral, while still being conscious of keeping the project economical in cost.

Conscious is written for 8ply/dk weight yarn. All sizes use less than 100g/200m of contrast/gradient-style dyed yarn for the top section of the knit. A neutral yarn is best used for the lower section of body and sleeves.

CONSTRUCTION
Conscious has you cast on at the neckline, and work flat forming a rounded garter neck line utilizing the gradient/contrast colour. You will continue working the chest and upper sleeves in one piece until you reach a specified chest stitch count. From here the arm stitches are put on to waste yarn, and the body finished in the round. Once the body is completed, the sleeve stitches are returned to the needles and worked in the round.
A simple slip stitch transitions the colour change at the sleeve separation level.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • backwards loop cast on (under arms)
  • knitting small circumferences in the round (sleeves)
  • long tail cast on (neckline).
  • working top down raglan construction. If you are not familiar with these techniques you may need to reference a knitting guide book, or view videos on the internet.
