This pattern is available as part of The Coffee Shop Collection.

The pattern used for this hat is a very simple 10-stitch repeat for the lower portion and a 12-stitch repeat for the upper. This makes it very easy to add and subtract repeats to reach your desired size. It will also allow you to switch the yarn weight and still work the pattern.

The top of the hat is what I call “scrunch style.” It pulls in very quickly, does not maintain the pattern, and will eat up some of the length of the hat (so you’ll need to work a longer length before decreasing than you would for something like a standard dome-top beanie). Having a top like this make it very easy to stop working and close up the top of the hat at any point, although I do recommend stopping after a non-cable cross round.

Although the Fusion yarn is technically considered a DK weight I find that it behaves more closely to worsted. If looking for a substitute to fit the written gauge I would suggest looking at worsted weight yarns (unless you want to play with the number of repeats).
