The pattern for this hat was inspired by visits to Shetland and meeting the sheep there.

The hat is knitted in only the natural colours that the Shetland sheep come in. You need black and white, plus two of the other natural colours. You need four 25-gram-balls in total.

You need two circular needles, 2-2,5 mm (US0–1.5) and five dpns 2,5 mm (US 1.5).

The gauge measures 8.5 stitches and 9 rows to 1 inch (2.5 centimeters).

The pattern includes two sizes.
The smaller size measures 52 centimeters (21 inches) around the widest part and the larger size measures 60 centimeters (24 inches) around the widest part. The hat measures about 22 centimeters (9 inches) from the bottom edge to the top.
