Pattern Information

The Coppafeel bandana is a pocket-size neckerchief perfect for rolling up in the smallest luggage when travelling. It is decorated in a knit-friendly intarsia pattern to create a delightful abstract design, in ten colours inspired by Morocco - for six days Charlie, my daughter and our in-house hand-dyer, will be walking across the Moroccon Saharan desert wearing her own Coppafeel bandana and we would love you to help her raise money for this amazing charity, by purchasing your own bandana kit from Susan Crawford Vintage and joining us in a week-long knit-a-long. I have specifically designed the bandana to be an extremely quick project. Knitting just a couple of hours a day for the duration of our knit-a-long will ensure you easily complete the project and get to support Charlie on her trek at the same time.

If you’re not able to join the knit-a-long or purchase a kit, but would still like to support Charlie’s trek and Coppafeel’s vital work, you can donate directly to Charlie’s fundraising page here – every pound helps her reach her goal. Thank you so much for helping us make this project count.

The bandana is simple to knit - starting with the i-cord tie at one end before increasing at one side only until the desired number of stitches have been reached before decreasing at the same rate until the correct number of stitches remain to knit the second tie. The pattern is worked predominantly using basic intarsia techniques.

The Coppafeel bandana is knitted using Susan Crawford Bluem Baby our brand-new, fingering weight, superwash wool, spun from 100% British Bluefaced Leicester fleece. This soft yet hard-wearing and machine washable yarn is perfect for a project such as the Coppafeel bandana, wonderfully comfortably against the skin, but lightweight and easy to care for. The superwashed yarn takes colour beautifully creating bold, vibrant colours.
