A top-down, wider triangular shawl with an all-around ruffle, inspired by the style of HRH the Duchess of Cambridge. Three different textured stitch patterns are provided for the body—choose one based on your knitting preferences. The Parallelogram Check is reversible and uses alternating knit and purl stitches for an intriguing texture. The Diagonal Rib also uses knit and purl stitches but makes a more subtle pattern. The Crossed Stitch pattern uses right and left twist (1 x 1 cross) stitches interspersed with rows of stockinette for a dotted effect.

After the body is worked, stitches are picked up along the wingspan edge for the ruffle, which is worked in stockinette in the round. The size is easily changed by decreasing or increasing the number of stitch repeats. Samples are shown in heavy fingering/sport weight yarn, but any weight yarn may be used (adjust yardage accordingly).

Skill level: Intermediate to advanced. Both written and charted instructions are provided.
