Like its companion piece, the Alderaan Hat, the Coruscant Hat is named after Princess Leia from the Star Wars series. In particular, it’s named after the intricate braids woven in Leia’s hair. The Coruscant Hat is constructed in a very similar way to Alderaan - side to side with short rows shaping the crown - but it’s simpler, more stark and spare.

Size: 16¼ (17½, 18¾, 19¾)“ 41 (44, 47, 50) cm/18¾ (20, 21½, 22¾)” 48 (51, 54, 58) cm at the brim/widest circumference. To Fit: 20½ (22, 23½, 24¾)” head circumference. For a slouchier fit, go up one size from your normal size (i.e., if you would normally knit the 22” head circumference size, knit the 23½” head circumference size). The largest size (24¾”) will not have a slouchy version. Sample in size 22” (green).

Yardade: 240 (270, 290, 330) yards light sport weight yarn. Yardage may vary depending on individual differences in tension.

Skills: Cables, short rows, provisional CO, Kitchener st, picking up sts.

Notes on construction: This hat is worked flat from side to side. The crown is shaped with successive short rows. The sides of the hat are then worked together with Kitchener st. Sts are picked up along the brim and worked top-down for a small band. For a slouchier hat, knit one size up. For an even slouchier hat, work extra entire rows in between short row sets.
