Easy afghan stitch squares are embroidered in cross stitch with Contrary Miss Mary and her growing garden.

Gauge: 25 stitches and 19 rows in 6½” in afghan/Tunisian crochet stitch.

You will need Coats & Clark’s Red Heart Knitting Worsted, 4 Ply, in the following amounts and colors: thirteen 4 ounce skeins of white, one 1 ounce skein each of dark blue and rose; two 1 ounce skeins each of orange and light blue; three 1 ounce skeins of green; one 1/3 ounce skein each of black, pink and scarlet.

The young in heart of any age will love this beautiful afghan with Mistress Mary surrounded by colorful flowers. A solid white background is made in afghan stitch and then the cross-stitch designs are embroidered in brilliant garden colors.

You will need a number 8 afghan hook - this is a standard size hook with a long shank or handle which holds the loops picked up across each row.

The completed afghan measures about 51 x 65 inches.
