cotyledon - noun | cot·y·le·don | \ˌkä-tə-ˈlē-dᵊn\ - the first leaf or one of the first pair or whorl of leaves developed by the embryo of a seed plant.

In the true spirit of spring, this sock design is toe-up, beginning with the first sprout of a seedling, emerging in full flower at the top of the cuff.

Worked on four double-pointed needles, the pattern is a series of cables on a purl background and includes a comprehensive chart as well as handy online links to tutorials for provisional cast on, the short row heel and toe, how to cable without a cable needle, and weaving in yarn when changing colors.

Choose to make identical socks, or switch the cuff, heel and toe colors with the main color from the first sock to have fraternal twins.
