YARN: The Fibre Co. Road to China Lace (65% baby alpaca, 15% silk, 10% camel, 10% cashmere; 656 yds/100 gm skein): tanzanite, 1 skein.
GAUGE: 24 sts + 32 rows = 4” (10 cm) in lace patt, after blocking.
NEEDLES: US 5 (3.75 mm) needles, straight or circular.
NOTIONS: Lace-weight scrap yarn, 3.75 mm crochet hook, cable needle, tapestry needle.
SIZE: 36” (91.5 cm) circumference, 11.5” (29.25 cm) width.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Double sided lace, cables, chart reading, provisional cast on, Kitchener stitch (tutorials included).

WORTHY OF NOTE: The Covert Cowl starts with a provisional cast on, and is worked in one long rectangle. The two ends of the rectangle are then grafted together to create the cowl shape. Use cotton embroidery floss or another “slippery” yarn for the provisional cast on chain for easier unzipping when grafting the ends together.
