This pattern is great for beginning knitters that want a fast pair of warm fingerless gloves and to learn the mattress stitch. The mattress stitch is one of the most proficient ways to seam knitted items, such as gloves, sweaters, etc. There is a wonderful tutorial on how to do the mattress stitch on verypink.com. (She’s my fave).

Pattern requires the following skills:
knitting, seaming with mattress stitch

Yarn
Approximately 50yds of a bulky weight yarn.

Yarn used: A Tree Huggers Wife ‘Big One’ (100% U.S. merino wool; 175yds/160m per 3.53oz/100g skein)

Needles
5.5 mm/U.S. size 9 knitting needles or needle to obtain gauge.

Notions
Yarn needle.

Gauge
4 sts = 4” (10cm) in garter stitch.
