This hat and fingerless mittens set uses the same stitch pattern as my Hearth Socks and my Hearth Hat & Mittens– I wanted to see the pattern stitch with larger gauge yarns as a cozy hat and fingerless mittens set. I love how they look like thermal waffle weave! The patterning uses only knit, purl and slipped stitches, and is easy to memorize.

The pattern includes instructions for worsted, bulky and super bulky weight yarn. The super bulky weight versions knit up super fast! The pattern stitch looks quite different depending on the yarn used - a tonal yarn looks very geometric, and a self striping yarn carries one colour into the next for a unique look.
