Crocus buds peaking through the snow, frosted window panes, icy streams, steaming hot cocoa clutched between your hands. Romantic strolls in the crisp winter air, with promises of spring soon to come. This hat and cowl set is sure to keep you toasty on even the briskest of days.

These were originally designed to keep un-housed warm while sleeping rough in the coldest of winters.

Needles:
Us size 8 or needles to obtain gauge. For hats you will need dpns, and I suggest a 16” circular to work from brim to decreases. For cowls you will just need a 16” circular.

Notions:
Crochet hook or tapestry needle for working in ends.
Stitch markers
Cable needle

Yarn: Worsted weight or Aran yarn in two contrasting colors. Approximately 70 grams/2.5 oz for hat and 90 grams/3 oz for cowl. One skein each for each item.

Hat: 9” across brim, unstretched; 9” top to brim. One size fits most.

Cowl 1: 11” across ribbed cuff, side to side, unstretched; 6.5” top edge to bottom edge.

Cowl 2: 11.5” across ribbed cuff, side to side, unstretched; 8” top edge to bottom edge.

Gauge: 7 stitches to 2 inches wide and 12 rows to 2 inches high, working color chart.
