Cracklin Rose is a kite-shaped shawl that embodies the essence of romance and the freshness of spring. 💐 The sideways construction adds a unique twist, allowing the motifs to gracefully unfold like a love story. A hint of mohair is added in an Old Shale pattern to create a subtle halo and luxurious fluffy texture softening the overall look. The focal point of this design is the exquisite array of blossoming flowers gracefully adorning the center of the shawl.

The color palette is inspired by the soft hues of spring, featuring pastel tones that mirror the awakening of nature. Imagine shades of blush pink, soft lavender, and pale sprinkles, blending seamlessly to create a visual symphony that complements any springtime ensemble.

The pattern is fully written out with stitch counts and includes corresponding charts for special stitch patterns.

Stitches used: knit, purl, slip stitches, normal increases & decreases, and Flower stitch -(instructions included)

Yarn: Fingering weight in two complementary colors and one complementary Mohair lace weight yarn

Four Purls has put together some amazing kits for you all!

I used:
Yarn: Emma’s Yarn Super Silky (80% Superwash Merino/20% silk, 400yards/100grams)

  • C1: Petal - 350 yards (dusty pink)

  • C2: Dusk Til Dawn - 400 yards (purple)

Emma’s Yarn Marvelous Mohair (72% Kid mohair/ 28% Silk, 459yards/50grams)

  • M: Bare Necessities - 200 yards (multi-color)

Needles: US 4/3.5 mm circular needles and one US 6/4mm needle for bind off

Notions: One Stitch Marker, Crochet Hook (suggested for Flower Stitch), T-pins, and flexible blocking wires for blocking

Gauge: stitches = 4 inches in Garter Stitch on size 4/3.5mm needles after aggressive blocking. Although gauge is not crucial for this project, it will affect the finished size and yarn requirements. A looser gauge will result in the use of more yarn.

Finished Size: 27” deep by 78” long
