Total strangers have stopped me on the street to admire this necklace. The design came about because I had only six left of one of my favorite beads (amethyst lined ruby) and just had to do something with them. So, an ombre design evolved.
Another yoke-style necklace made with short rows from the bottom up, five or six rows of like-color beads are strung in reverse order to create an ombre effect. It is fun to try shades of the same color or work contrasting colors in different hues. The results are stunning.
I always add beads to the clasp which extends the length just enough for me. Choose a yummy yarn. Wool with silk is perfect, holds its shape and feels light and lovely on the neck. Alpaca is lovely, and superwash merino or even a cotton/linen work very well too. Perfect use for that scrap yarn you love!
