Inspired by my love of crazy Christmas sweaters, I wanted to design a crazy pair of Christmas socks! This pair of top down socks certainly qualifies. You start by knitting the ears and the antlers and join those to the sock when casting on the cuff. After the ribbed cuff it’s smooth sailing with a vanilla sock. When your socks are finished you can embroider on a face or add a pompom nose!

The pattern is available in 7 sizes: XXXS (XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL) with a cast on of 48 (52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 72) stitches. Finished sock foot circumference is 5.33 (5.75, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 7.75)” (13.5(14.5, 15, 16.5, 18, 19, 19.5) cm). Socks are intended to be worn with about 0.5 (0.5, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1)“ (1.25, (1.25, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5 cm)) of negative ease.

The gauge is 9 stitches per inch and 11 rows per inch in stockinette on 2.5 mm (US 1.5) needles.

Sample was knit using Wol Met Verve Basic Sock in colourway jingle Bells (420 meters (460 yards) per 100 grams; 75% wool, 25% nylon) as MC and brown leftovers as CC1. Sample is a size M and has a 9” (23 cm) foot length. The sample pair used 80 grams (336 meters (365 yards)) of MC and about 50 meters (55 yards) of CC1.

Materials:
• 420 meters (460 yards) of fingering weight yarn in MC.
• 75 meters (82 yards) of fingering weight yarn in CC1.
• 10 meters (11 yards) of fingering weight yarn in black.
• 2.5 mm (US 1.5) double pointed or circular needles.
• Stuffing.
• Tapestry needle.
• Optional: small red pompom.
