Try improvisational knitted lace!

We asked designer Myra Wood to create something with one skein of our Studio Cashmere Lace. Using the concepts in her book, Crazy Lace (available for purchase) and some free patterns on Ravelry.com for a cropped cardi, she produced this timelessly beautiful cardigan. Worked in our lace-weight yarn, it makes a great layering piece for warmer weather.

This is not a pattern, but a “recipe”. Myra’s book Crazy Lace is all about creating lace WITHOUT a pattern: instead it teaches the knitter to use the “inherent logic” contained within lace to create the surface patterning. Myra suggests free patterns to use for the structure of the garment, and describes the approach to making this garment using principles that are fully illustrated in her book. Making this cardigan is about improvising lace patterning within the constraints of simple cropped raglan pattern.
