NOTE: Error on pattern. Row 1 should have two ssk. When you get to this point in the row, do two ssk rather than just one. So very sorry for any problem. Will upload a corrected pattern soon.

This is a beautiful pattern--Crest of the Wave--that is commonly known. I’ve seen it in several published pattern collections including (but not limited to) The Complete Encyclopedia of Stitches by Mildred Graves Ryan

The pattern can be expanded easily to be wider by adding sets of 12 stitches to the cast on amount of stitches or made longer by increasing the number of repeats.

Any similar yarn can be used for this shawl but it is particularly beautiful in the Ruca yarn.

Note: this takes THREE skeins of yarn to complete.
