This cute little headband is a beginner’s introduction to stranded colorwork or Fair Isle knitting. There are two simple charts that show how to work the colors.

This fits a 21-23 inch head, but you could make it smaller by using needles one or two sizes smaller. For example, the pattern calls for size 7, but you could go down to a 6 or a 5 if you wanted a smaller headband. Likewise, you could go to a size 8 needle if you wanted to make it larger.

Not much yarn is required for this cute little project. You will need less than 100 yards of the main color, and scraps for the two colors. It knits up very quickly, and is an easy way to use those cherished yarns you just cannot throw away!
