There’s something about crinkly material that babies just love. I think it might have something to do with learning cause and effect: babies perform an action (squeeze the toy) and they observe that something (the crinkly sound) happens. Crinkly toys are everywhere these days, but now you can knit a little Crinkle Square to coordinate with other knitted items for the baby in your life.

A simple method of double knitting is used to create two layers of fabric that form a pouch. (New to double knitting? I’ll walk you through it!) A piece of crinkle material is then slipped into this pouch before closing up the square with a three-needle bind-off. Options for reverse stockinette and stockinette are provided. Tiny fingers and teething gums will love the texture of the yarn. This fantastically quick and easy baby toy will be one that new moms will love to keep at hand.
