I designed this tough little dragon for the initiative ‘Haak een draak!’ (Crochet a dragon); one of the initiatives for the foundation ‘Stoere Pepijn’ (Tough Pepijn). A little boy in the Netherlands is suffering from neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of childhood cancer. The only way he has a chance of surviving this, is a treatment only available in Philiadelphia, USA. The foundation was raising money for little Pepijn and his family to be able to pay for all this. For more info, be sure to check their website; www.stoerepepijn.nl (in Dutch only).

The ‘crochet a dragon’ initiative has come to a succesfull end; they raised no less than €3224,-!!

My friend Miriam is the initiator of ‘Crochet a dragon’. She asked me to designs a dragon, so she could make little packages with enough yarn, a hook, some eyes and fiberfill to sell for the foundation.
Very exciting and she did it!
This is the first pattern design I ever made and I’m pretty proud of everything it did for the foundation.
That’s why I’m offering this pattern, my very first and very successful design, for free!

It’s an easy pattern, made for beginners.
The material used is Schachenmayr Catania (100% cotton, Sport/5 ply) and hook size 2 (UK 14, US B/1). Good yarn alternatives are Katia Capri and Durable Coral.

You’ll need:
1 skein of green;
Some blue;
Very little red;
A pair of safety-eyes;
Fiberfill;
A tapestry needle
