With its two-layer flower and its delicate little bow, this crochet hat is flirty, feminine and just plain fun! The crochet flower embellishment is removable so, if you like, you can pin it to your lapel or purse.

SIZE: One size fits most women and teens - the tie allows you to adjust the fit.

SKILL LEVEL: With its basic stitches, and simple shaping and color changes, I would rate this crochet pattern as EASY. The hat is worked in rounds from the top down, and can be completed in just a few hours.

MATERIALS: The featured yarn is Vanna’s Choice worsted weight yarn, which is labeled with a crochet gauge of approximately 12 sc x 15 rows = 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) when using a size J/10 (6.0 mm) hook. You will need approximately 105 yards (96 m) of your main color and approximately 20 yards (18.3 m) of a contrasting color.

Nifty Thrifty Note: When using Vanna’s Choice yarn, purchase one ball each of the main color and contrasting color of your choice and crochet the hat as directed. Then, by simply reversing the colors, you’ll have sufficient yarn to complete a second hat. Two hats using just 2 balls of yarn – that’s nifty thrifty!

You will also need:

  • Crochet hook size K/10-1/2 (6.5 mm).
  • Tapestry needle for working in yarn ends.
  • Safety pin or purchased stitch marker.
