Only the slouchy version requires a J hook, both styles utilize G, H, and I hooks. This is an especially good hat for the warmer months, and can be completed with two balls of kitchen cotton (like Peaches And Cream), or a single skein of Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton. The open mesh makes this also suitable for worsted weight acrylic yarns.
