Crocheted Ruffled Washcloth

Reverse-engineered from a vintage washcloth, this pattern begins with a sturdy foundation mesh of mercerized crochet thread (size 10), over which a soft sport weight cotton yarn is crocheted, creating a plush, ruffled surface.

The pattern calls for a “crochet hook, steel size 4 (1 mm)” to be used for the foundation mesh. Either the 4 or the 1 mm is a typo, as a size 4 steel hook is 2 mm, and a 1 mm hook would be a size 12.
