I have always loved the little Crofthouse’s you see dotted all over Shetland. I am known for making cushions in the shape of traditional Crofthhouses and my 2016 design is another use of one of my
favourite motif’s, this hat is a great introduction to Shetland inspired colourwork using traditional skills and a contemporary pattern.
Size: 1 size to fit average head approx 22inches, the main stitch pattern is a 12 stitch repeat so by adding/removing repeats you could alter the size. This would affect your crown stitch count so bare that in mind.
Finished gauge: approx 26 sts and 26 rows over 10 cm using 3.5mm needles. The needle sizes given are to match this gauge, to ensure the same finished dimensions you may need to alter your needle size.
