The pattern was inspired by Anne Geddes’ book “Pure” and by Debbie Bliss’ “Alphabet Blanket”.

I began this design years ago for a dear friend who was pregnant with twins. When she lost them at 24 weeks, I just couldn’t continue the work. Years later I was re-inspired when I found out we were expecting baby #4, I pulled out my notes and re-worked the whole thing.

The lace letters create a crossword with the words Gift, Innocent, Tender, Tiny, Cherished, Blessing, Baby, Incredible, Cute, Delight, Pure, Dear, and Adorable.

The pattern includes charts for every letter of the alphabet in case you are very ambitious and want to figure out how to add initials, names, etc.

The pattern has both charts and written directions for each chart.

The blanket is knit in one piece. No Seams (I hate sewing seams).

I recommend making or buying stitch markers with the letters of the alphabet for ease of knitting
5 each that are plain.
• 3 each of the letter E
• 2 each letters: A, B, H, I, R, S, T
• 1 each letters: C, D, F, G, L, N, O, P, U, Y

It will make following the pattern much, much easier.
