The perfect cowl for just 1 skein of variegated yarn! The slipped stitches show off the colors, while the ribbing provides lots of stretch.

This pattern is particularly well suited for beginners or knitters who want a simple, yet striking, pattern to knit while commuting or watching tv. All instructions are written out and a chart is provided, but after the first few rounds you won’t need to look at the pattern at all!

The pattern is written for larger needles to make the fabric airier and less stiff. (Don’t worry if you don’t have the exact size needles -- you can use size 10 or 11 needles as well, keeping in mind that the measurements will change slightly.) Also, it is easy to change the size of the finished cowl: to change the height, do less pattern repeats; to change the width, cast on any multiple of 18.

Skills needed: knit in the round, cast on, bind off, knit, purl. That’s it!
