Gradually widening stripes move outward like the ripples on a lake and end in a little froth of lace. The top-down triangle is composed of garter stitch and color change, and the edging is worked in a variation of the classic Old Shale stitch.

You will need 221 yards of fingering weight yarn in each of the Main Color, Contrast Color 1 and Contrast Color 2. The sample is shown in Finch by Quince & Co in Poppy (Main Color), Audouin (Contrast Color 1), and Apricot (Contrast Color 2).

The sample was knit on a US size 6 (4mm) 32” circular needle; exact gauge is not crucial. Use a needle size that gives you a fabric that you like, but be aware that a change in gauge can affect the amount of yarn used and the size of the finished shawl. The sample did use just about the entire skein of Contrast Color 1, so you may want extra yarn on hand just to be safe.

The finished measurements are a wingspan of 59” and a center back of 22.75”. These measurements are taken after blocking. Finished measurements may vary depending on gauge, needle size, and how aggressively you block the shawl.
