“This bear is knit on 2 needles in stockinette stitch in one piece. The finished bears are suitable for use by patients with dementia or alzheimers. These patients with advanced dementia enjoy cuddling soft toys. These bears are safe and washable. They are also suitable for use by children. Please donate finished bears to long term care facilities for use by residents with dementia, or to children’s charities such as children’s hospitals, shelters etc.

This bear is knit from the feet to the head. The legs are knit first with the body separating into front and back sections. The top of the arms and the head may be placed on holders and grafted together, or bound off and stitched together for finishing. This bear has a large head and short arms and legs. To increase the length of the legs simply add more rows. To increase the length of the arms cast on more stitches between rows 20 and 21 (for example 16 st, not 14 as directed). “
