This pattern is actually 3 patterns to cover all abilities - beginner, intermediate and advanced. All 3 patterns are included on the same pdf download, so buy one and you get all 3 patterns.

Each one is designed with a side that complement each other so can be used as a set is desired. The reverse side is more textured to keep things interesting.

The 1st, basic (basket weave) pattern requires the following skills:
• Casting on
• Casting off
• Knit stitch
• Purl stitch
• Moving yarn between a knit and a purl stitch in a row
• The ability to count to 22 ;o)
In my mind, I loved the idea of a beginner using the 1st pattern as a means to practise and end up with something a bit more interesting than the inevitable scarf. The 1st pattern will give you all the skills to take on the 2nd and while the patterns don’t “teach” cabling, if you can read a pattern or chart and count then the 3rd (advanced) one, should be well within reach.

The intermediate pattern (the black one) requires the same skills and a stitch marker. The 3rd requires a basic knowledge of cabling and a LOT more stitch markers.

All patterns are written with accompanying photos. The advanced pattern also includes a chart for the cabled side.

All patterns are knitted in one piece and don’t involve shaping.
