There is an error in the instruction for slipping the markers as you begin the thumb gusset shaping. The correction is as follows:
Work thumb gusset:
Next rnd: K1, place 1st thumb marker, knit to last st, place 2nd thumb marker, k1.
Increase rnd: K1, m1k, slip marker, knit to 2nd marker, slip marker, m1k, k1. 4 sts between markers.
