  • The Cuffed Mushroom Hat has a double cuff to help keep out the wind.
  • The lower edge of the cuff has a cute picot to frame your face nicely.
  • The body of the hat has lots of stitches and balloons out to trap air and be very warm.
  • The top decreases spiral in to the center, and the only seam is along one of those spirals.
  • I’ve made many of these hats in all sorts of yarns and they come out nicely - from 9 sts to the inch down to 3 sts to the inch.
  • I think they might be easiest to make in the 4 - 6 sts per inch range. The picots are on a good scale then. Make the picots across three stitches in gauges with 7 or more stitches per inch.
  • People like how this hat looks, I always get comments on it when I wear it. It looks really great with different yarns for the cuff and the body, or other elaborations. The last one I made has earflaps… I’d love to see what you do with it! Happy Knitting!
