The Cuffed Mushroom Hat has a double cuff to help keep out the wind.
The lower edge of the cuff has a cute picot to frame your face nicely.
The body of the hat has lots of stitches and balloons out to trap air and be very warm.
The top decreases spiral in to the center, and the only seam is along one of those spirals.
I’ve made many of these hats in all sorts of yarns and they come out nicely - from 9 sts to the inch down to 3 sts to the inch.
I think they might be easiest to make in the 4 - 6 sts per inch range. The picots are on a good scale then. Make the picots across three stitches in gauges with 7 or more stitches per inch.
People like how this hat looks, I always get comments on it when I wear it. It looks really great with different yarns for the cuff and the body, or other elaborations. The last one I made has earflaps… I’d love to see what you do with it! Happy Knitting!
