Knit a curve like a hull, with airy eyelets that form a delicate net.

Can this be made larger? Yes, very easily. The last section can be repeated as many times as you like until it’s the size you prefer.

This swirl of a shawl is named for a 10th century boat builder in my novel So Wild A Dream, who weaves nets and thinks of the world in terms of waves. “It surprised him, as it sometimes did – how graceful the world was in its curves and hollows.”

Samples shown for yarn budgets from $11 up.

  • Gradient is Freia Handpaints, 1 shawl ball in Lichen
  • Brown sample is Jojoland Ballad, 2 balls in Cloudburst
