In the dark days of late autumn, there is nothing I like more mid-afternoon as the light starts to fade that a cup of coffee and a small sweet treat. Both in picking the yarn colours and the stitch pattern for this design my thoughts were very much turned to creating that feeling of cosiness, warmth and self-care, from that this this design was created and only half way through the nagging thought that it reminded me of something resolved and it got its name. It reminds me of nothing so much as a warm custard tart, with a rich butter crust pastry and a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.
The Custard Tartt sock is worked top down with a contrast rib cuff, this transitions into a textured broken rib leg, a contrast band heel is worked in reverse stocking stitch, the foot is continued down to the reverse stocking stitch toe.
The Custard Tart sock is worked in five sizes at 56, 60, 64, 68 and 72 stitch cast on. It is a cosy, warm, stretchy easy to wear sock, it is relatively easy to knit.
