This pattern is one I designed for a friend who was going through chemo treatments. We were experiencing a heat wave, and all the patterns I found were for closed caps. She complained that scarves would slip off her head. So I designed this pattern to combine a knitted band that I knit out of a very soft and cool yarn, and sewed it to a cotton fabric that is gathered to appear like there is hair underneath. She loved it, and said it made her feel stylish when she wore it.

This is a very open ended pattern, meaning you can adjust the yarn, gauge, and needle size according to the left over yarns you have in your stash. This pattern also combines knitting and sewing. Though the pattern specifies using a sewing machine, it would be easy enough to hand sew the sections that specify machine sewing, or use a Liquid Stitch type sewing glue instead.
