A pretty cardigan with a v-neck front and back and symmetrical slanting lace patterns. This cardigan is knit from the top down – we work the neckline in four panels for the front and back right/left shoulders, then join them up to knit the body. Stitches are picked up round the armholes to form the sleeves.

The lace pattern repeat is quite wide, which means the gap between sizes is larger than I’d like. However lace patterns are stretchy – the cardigan pictured is worked with 7.5 cm/3” negative ease, so I do hope there is a size that will work for as wide a range of body shapes as possible. For those right in the middle of two sizes we recommend following the pattern for the larger size and using 5 mm/US 8 needles, we include full sizing information for those who wish to use this option. Instructions for two sleeve widths for each size are also given to allow for more flexibility in the sizing. We recommend the larger sleeve size as standard and the smaller if you prefer a tight fit (or if you’re running short on yarn!)
